Show Reviews
Letchworth, November 2008
A great little friendly show put on by the Letchworth Model Club again and this was my second visit there. The show is mainly aimed at the figure modeller, but there is always wide range of models and visiting clubs at the show anyhow. In the competition room, there was a good turn out of models entered in all classes, with some amazing figures entered. At the other end of the competition room, demonstrations of modelling could be seen and it always impresses me watching these figures being worked on.
Well done Letchworth and I'll see you next year.
IPMS Nationals, Telford, November 2008
Unfortunately, I could not make both days this year due to family commitments, so I only visited the Nationals on Sunday. It was great seeing some friends from different parts of the country again to catch up on things.
With my time being limited, I could only have a quick look around the show. The Phantom SIG did a marvalous display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Phantom with over 500 models on display. In the competition area, it was the usual excelent quality of models entered in the many classes available. "Wallace & Grommit" raised their heads again with a selection of movie theme based models and I especially like "The Italian Job" display with the three Austin vans in the sewers. Overall, a great show at which I spent too much money again (in trouble with the wife for it!). But there was one down side to it though! Why oh why did the hall management decide to start cooking burgers in the hall for? Models which were being displayed on stands and in the competition area ended up covered in grease. I hope this does not happen next year IPMS? |
