Challenger II "Dozer" MBT
I picked this kit up at the MAFVA Nationals at IWM Duxford for just £2.00, which for a new un-opened kit was a bargain.
Building the model was straight forward, there was minimal mold lines and virtually no flash on the parts, meaning hardly any cleaning up. The model was assembled into sections ready for painting, the hull up to the point with the dozer mounting arms fitted and the fuel drums in their carriers. The road wheels, idler and drive sprocket were left off the hull along with the dozer blade to aid with painting and were fitted afterwards. The turret went together like the rest of the kit, without any trouble . But in the painting stage, there was a mistake made with the primer and the turret was ruined. So I purchased another Trumpter Challenger II MBT, but without the dozer blade to use the turret from and the hull will be used for another project.
Painting was done using Mr Hobby's paint for the main camoflage with other various paints used for the detailling areas of the model. once the main painting and detailling was done, the model was assembled for weathering and the fitting of the aerials. This is a nice little model when completed with clean detail in the molding of the kit. Even with my mess up with the primer prior to painting, I was happy with the outcome. When I brught this kit, I also picked up Trumpter's 1/35th scale version of this model too, for which I have brought Eduards etched detailing set and Bronco's track set for it.
