F-15E Strike Eagle II
This is an old Hasegawa kit that I picked up at a show one weekend. I thought about adding a cast resin cockpit set to the model, but opted not to in the end. I built this model straight out of the box with the conformal fuel tanks fitted to the fuselage. A full set of bombs, missles and external fuel tanks are also supplied with the kit, so I chose to have the model with a full load of bombs on it. So the required pylons for carrying them were assembled and fitted to the wings and fuselage.
Painting was done using Xtracryllix on the fuselage with various other paints used for the detailing on the model. Due to the age of the kit, I did not want to risk the decals cracking as I was applying them to the model. So they were given a coat of "Liquid Decal Film" and once dry, trimmed then added to the model. Final assembly was carried out with the fitting of the cockpit canopies, airbrake and undercarriage. The model then sat on the shelf for a few monthswaiting for the bombs and missiles to be cleaned up and painted. This was done recently and they were added to the pylons finally finishing the model.
