Jaguar Mk2 Coombes Heritage Racing Car
The discontinued Tamiya kit was used in this build for the "Summer 60's Era" contest. I decided to recreate a present day Heritage Racer by adding modern style roll cage, full harness, etc. Unfortunately, I never made the deadline for the contest, missed it by a couple of days.
It was decided to have a detailed engine area on this model, so the engine had the alternator and distributor replaced then wired and plumbed. The engine bay had various items scratch built like the steering column, heater valve, screen wash tank, expansion tank, etc. Inside, the rear seat was removed and a panel was made to sit in place. A roll cage based on FIA regulations was scratch built with a racing bucket seat, etched racing steering wheel and 5 point full harness fitted. HML Models etched bonnet hinges were modified for the Jaguar then the model was finished in Tamiya's BRG paint and Clear. BMF and Alclad chrome was used on the trim with turned air valves on the rims.
